XOXO Valentine Tablescape

I found these plates at Target this year & knew that I wanted them for my Valentine's tablescape. Since I live in a family of all boys (now men), I thought they would be perfect. They are not too girly.
I'm not real happy with how this tablescape turned out. But since I put it together last minute, I didn't have a lot of time to play around with it. I tend to tweak at things for about a week before I get it where I am happy. Since I tend to be a procrastinator, sometimes that doesn't leave me time for tweaking. Oh well.

Since the salad plates had letters on them, I did my theme around that. I had these metal letters I picked up from Marshalls a few years back. So that each person would know where to sit, I tied the first letter of each persons name to each glass. Here is my glass. "K" for Kim. I used red tulle to tie on each letter.

I tucked the red napkin between the letter plate & the larger red plate.

I just picked up the "XOXO" from TJ Maxx this past weekend. I had seem many bloggers with them in their decor. I knew I had to have them. And now I do.

I used some more of the metal letters to spell out words on the table.

I loved that these plates say "I heart u". You know what? I do love each one in my family. At least today I do. lol.

I also threw in some metal numbers and some of my letter balls as scatters.

Tablecloth: Walmart (this year)
Red plates: Target (this year)
I heart u plates: Target (this year)
Red napkins: Kohl's (this year, clearance item from Christmas)
Silverware: Brylane Home (last year, clearance item)
Glasses: Walmart (few years ago)
XOXO: TJ Maxx (this year)
Metal letters and numbers: Marshall's (few years ago)
Letter Balls: Coldwater Creek outlet (last year, clearance item)
Candlesticks: where my Mother in laws

This wasn't my best tablescape, but the boys, I mean men, in my family won't mind. They don't care if they eat off of paperplates. Which they do quite a bit. Not my choice.

I am still working on my girly Valentine's tablescape and if I can tweak it to where I like it, I'll share it with you next week.

I hope that each of you has a Happy Valentine's Day and someone special to share it with.

  4. Hi sweet lady...

Girl, I love your Valentine's table and I think you did a fabulous job making your guys feel more comfortable with our "frou frou" holiday! I know, I certainly thought of the same thing as I was doing my silver and white table. I'm sure Russell would enjoy yours much more! But I've had so much fun playing with all my silver and it was the "last stand" post for all the silver at my place! I think I've about wore it all out! Hehe! Anyway...I love your new Target dishes...I love anything with letters like that on it and I love how you carried out the "letters" theme on your table! You are so creative and talented, Girlfriend!!! Love, love, LOVE the big "XOXO" letters!!! Hmmm...I didn't see any of those at my last trip to TJ MAXX...shoot! Thank you so much for sharing your pretty Valentine's Day table with us...it was a real treat!!!

I also spent a little time getting caught up at your place! I'm so sorry that I've been so long to get by for a visit! It's been busy at my place. My daughter and five grandkids surprised me with a visit! Of course, I didn't get anywhere near the blogs...hehe! I loved seeing your beautiful wooden hearts that you made last year! Sooo pretty!!! Don't you just love scrapbook paper? I think your favorite...the pretty pink, frenchy heart was my favorite as well! They're darling, Kim!!!

Well, sweet girl...I hope that you and your honey have a fabulous Valentine's Day! Enjoy!!!

    Warmest Valentine wishes,
    Chari

  11. Looks great to me... but I know how it is about the tweeking. I even tweek after I have posted!

I am right with you about the procrastination. I wait 'til the last minute... and I really need a few days to get the best out of my tablescapes or vingettes.

I was up most of the night trying to get my tablescape ready. My camera is broken, and so Im using Hubby's. My pics are not as good as usual.

I noticed how the beige(?) lettering coordinates well with the tablecloth. This is a very "guy" friendly tablescape. Kudos to you!

I am surprised to hear that you actually sit down to eat at your table. Being just the two of us... we have gotten in the habit of eating in front of the tv.

    Talk to you soon ;)
