Spring Hutch Take 2

I am so loving my hutch painted black. I just can't keep rearranging it. Here is how it looks as of this morning. Spring hutch take 2.

If you missed my post about the hutch makeover & how I had it decorated for take 1, you can see it here. You will see that some things I left "as is" for take 2. But I have changed up a lot as well.

For instance, this cloche on top. Still has the artichoke statue, or what ever you would call it. I took off the Easter banner & added a moss bed (Dollar Tree moss) as well as a green ribbon.

This wooden birdcage is my newest purchase. I got it Saturday on my trip to Tai Pan Trading. It was my biggest purchase at $10.00. I originally was going to buy a wire birdcage like the ones hanging from the ceiling in my Tai Pan Trading post. But this birdcage was cheaper & much cuter. So I put the other one back & got this one instead. I love how this is wood & has a tin roof & a cupola.

I filled it with moss rocks from Dollar Tree.


I added my newest ironstone salad plates on the top shelf. They were part of the set I wrote about here. The white ironstone dinner plates on the next shelf down were also thrift store finds. I found one at one thrift store for $2.00 & the other two at another thrift store for $1.00 each. I adore white ironstone. But then you already knew that.

This white ironstone tureen I picked up at Salvation Army last summer for 1/2 price. Cost $3.50. It's been sitting in a cupboard since last summer. Now is it's time to shine!!!
The white ironstone pitchers on this shelf are vintage aka: old & I've had for years. The two white pitchers on the top shelf are not vintage aka: new from Ross last year. I kept the wooden birdhouses on this shelf. Added a twig ball & a moss ball.

The largest wooden birdhouse ornament is still under the cloche. It is now sitting on a few of my white ironstone plates that I just got.

See the other "Vintage" ironstone pitcher? The two pitchers on this shelf are my favorite & my oldest. (The rest of the pitchers in my collection are newer aka: not vintage.) I added some Dollar Tree flowers to them. This wooden birdcage ornament is one of my latest thrift store finds.

This cloche setup is new. I added a little vase from the thrift store. A Dollar Tree ball and my little birdies that were from Target after Christmas clearance. Everything is sitting on a bed of Dollar Tree moss on top of white ironstone plate.
The birdies were actually mini ornaments. I had forgotten about the white vase until I stumbled across it the other day while looking for something else. I love when that happens.

The right side is pretty much the same except the cloche with the number balls now has moss balls with it instead of moss stones as in take 1. And I changed out the little cloche as well.
I placed a metal stencil that I had picked up at an antique store for cheap on an old flower frog. Placed everything on a stack of ironstone saucers from my latest ironstone score. Then I placed grapevine around the base of the cloche. I got the grapevine at the thrift store as well. I added a tag at the top. The tag has been stamped with some french writing. I won a bunch in a blog giveaway a few months back.


And there you have my spring hutch take 2. I hope you likey. I know I do. I'm sure I'll be messing with it some more. I'm thinking of adding vinyl numbers to the plates. What do you think? Too much? Should I stop? Am I obsessed with my hutch?

Who doesn't love roses, mirrors & cherubs?

This week I am going to show you 3 items that I love to collect which I have 3 or more of. And most of the frames came from a thrift store (hence 2nd time around).

All these items happen to be in my office at work. I work in a small insurance agency selling personal lines insurance. Since I live in a family of all men at home, they don't like all my girly things. So I bring most of my girly things to my office at work.

I love collecting rose prints or paintings (must be pink or white roses), fairies or cherubs, mirrors (I'm really not vain, just need to make sure I am still alive). And of course I love shabby chic, or anything cottagy or frenchy. So the walls of my work office reflect this. I also sometimes sell on ebay & the items on my wall are the types of things I normally sell on ebay.

Here is one of the walls in my office. This is the biggest wall. It is to the right of my desk. I'll show you each piece individually.
I bought this picture off of ebay. It is like a shadowbox, so it has a framed girl with roses within a larger frame. I love this picture. I think I paid about $7.00 for it. I usually don't buy framed prints off of ebay as these are the type of items I sell, but I loved this frame so I had to have it. Plus the print has pink roses.
This rose painting I bought at Ross a few years back. I Can't remember what I paid for it, but since I am so cheap, it couldn't have been more than $10.00.
This cherub picture I bought at a thrift store for $3.00. I am so upset that I broke off & lost the flowers from the right hand side of the frame. Do you ever do stuff like that? The cherub is raised up off the backing for a 3D effect.

This is my ultimate most favorite picture. It belonged to my Great Grandma. This is the print that got me loving roses & collecting rose prints.
This frame I purchased at a craft/antique show for $3.00. I printed out the rose print from my computer & put it in the frame.
This frame came from a thrift store for $2.00. I printed out the fairies/cherub print from my computer & put it in the frame. The glass in the frame is bubbled out. That is why there is so much glare in the photo.
This frame came from a thrift store & I paid $5.00 for it. This is my largest framed print. I love the fleur de lis's on it, very frenchy. I bought the rose print at an antique store & it fit the frame perfectly. I snatched the glass from an old print that I no longer liked. And ta da, I have a beautiful picture. I had to take the photo at an angle so there would be no glare & you could see the print.
Can't remember where I got this little mirror. I just loved the shabbiness of it.
This is another wall in my office. This wall is the one I look directly at.
This rose painting came from the thrift store. I paid $5.00 for it. I accidentally scratched off some of the paint on the urn. Boo hoo. But since I like anything shabby, the scratch just adds to it's character (I'm trying to make myself feel better about scratching it).
This frame my sister in law gave to me. It originally had some print in it that I didn't care for, but I liked the frame, so I printed out a rose print by Catherine Klein to put in it. This particular rose print is my most popular print that I sell on ebay. Note to self, need to start selling on ebay again.
This clock came from Michael's last year. I love the colors, the shabbiness and because it is Frenchy. It also has a crown which I love. So how could I pass it up? Plus I always need to know what time it is. Don't want to miss out on my lunch break.

I got this mirror a few years back from an online website called ABC Distributing. I love how it has tin. I always wanted a tin mirror, but I really want one made from an old ceiling tin, but this one will have to do until then.
These next 2 photos come from a third wall in my office (which is the smallest wall). I didn't take a photo of this wall as it only has these 2 items, plus a calendar and the temp control for the heater. Not really much to look at.

These cherubs I bought off ebay to use at my wedding reception about 3 years ago. I never did use them, so I brought them to work to brighten up my walls.

This mirror came from ABC Distributing. I love the shape of this mirror.

So I have shown you that I have at least 8 rose prints (of which 6 are 2nd time around), 3 mirrors (sorry but they were all new) & 4 cherub or fairy items (only 1 was new item) hanging on the walls at my office at work. I don't have a real office at work, it is more of a pass through that we made into an office. But hey, it's mine!!! And I get to decorate it however I like.

Decorating my office with the things I love makes coming to work a little easier. We should always surround ourselves with the things we love. Don't you agree?
