I managed to venture up to my attic space in the garage to get down my Easter box this morning. I haven't had time to decorate yet. But while I was up in the attic, I did find a spring wreath. I thought I would add it to my trunk vignette.
Are we ever done fluffing or tweaking? I didn't think so.
It's perfect surrounding the candles.
I even placed a small nest with some faux eggs in the middle. The wreath already has 2 nests and some eggs & even a birdy.
Here's a closeup of the birdy sitting on her nest.
I moved these Dollar Tree birdies to this cake plate to sit next to this nest.
I was going to paint these birdies, but I think I like them the way they are. Or is that the lazy person in me saying that. lol.
I also fixed the birdy in this nest. Now her back isn't to us.
I'm much happier with this vignette now.
And it looks good sitting underneath my shelf vignette.
If you want to see the first attempt at this vignette and more of my shelf vignette, click here.
Now I just need to go through my Easter box to see what will come out to play. Stay tuned. Not sure what will change for Easter. Most likely will be my mantel & china hutch that get an Easter makeover. I better hurry up though, Easter is like in 4 days. Yikes!!!

My hutch is finally painted!
Did you hear that one of the signs that we are in the end times is when Kim's china hutch is finally painted? What? You haven't heard that? Well, that is what I thought.
If I'm the only one who thought that, then I guess we can all relax a little. As I have finally done it! I finally painted my china hutch.
Those of you who have been following me know that I have been wanting to paint this hutch like forever. Or at least for 15 years since I purchased it. But I could never decide on white or black.
I'm not good at making decisions. So hubby finally made the decision for me. He said to paint it black. That way it would go with our table & chairs.
Plus it sits right next to a huge white TV armoire. And my walls are white. It would have been too much white. But I do love white.
And you know what? Hubby was right (but don't tell him I admitted that). Black is the perfect color for this.
Here she is all dressed up in her Sunday best. She even got new pulls, knobs and hinges.
And here is the before photo. She was just a plain Jane. And I hated the hardware.
Here I am painting the hutch. What do you mean that doesn't look like me? What is hubby doing in the photo? Ok, I'll admit, hubby did the actual sanding and painting of the china hutch. But I was a great supervisor.
I even got hubby to put on new glass knobs & pulls. So much better than the ugly ones that were on it. I purchased these years ago from ABC Distributing online. They were cheap. Four knobs or two pulls for $4.95. I still have a bunch more knobs. And they are glass, not plastic. Too bad they don't have them anymore. Don't you hate that I just had to rub that in?
So I admitted that hubby actually did the sanding and the painting. But I got to do the fun stuff, decorating. I pretty much set it back up like I had it before painting. My plan was to decorate it for Easter, but I've been too lazy to climb up in the attic to get down my Easter stuff. And since Easter is this coming Sunday, not sure I will bother at this point. But then again, you never know.
I did pick up this little birdhouse ornament at the thrift store this past weekend for 50 cents. It kind of matches the one I had already that is on the left side of the same shelf (see photo below).
I put the 2 bird finials from Michael's on the this shelf. When I first showed you my Spring decor a few weeks back, I had the smaller finial on the top shelf where I now have my new birdhouse.
I did add a little Easter sign to my cloche I had picked up at Michael's last month for 99 cents. The sign was 99 cents, not the cloche. I wish Michael's had cloches for 99 cents.
I love how the white ironstone pops against the black.
It's fun to find stuff to put in apothecary jars. Almost anything will work. I may change mine out for candy for Easter. But if I fill them too early, they will be all gone by Easter. So I'll probably wait till Friday to fill them with candy.
I just love how my china hutch turned out. It's going to be much more fun to decorate now.
Maybe I will climb up to my attic to get down my Easter stuff.
And speaking of Easter. I did add a little decor to sit on top of my hutch.
The bunny usually sits outside in my yard. But gets to come inside for Easter. I've been having lots of fun with this photo holder. I added letters to spell Easter as well as some Easter prints. All came my collection of vintage image CD's.
I hope that you like my china hutch makeover. I love it!!! I am so happy with the result. Except since it is black, I will now have to dust it much more often. I hate housekeeping.
And I still want to distress the edges. But I was too tired after all this work to do so. I'll have to do it later. Hopefully it won't wait another 15 years.
Did I tell you I was lazy?
I think I will go and take a nap now.
Thanks for visiting.

Sunday Favorites-Spring decor 2009
For this week's Sunday Favorites I thought I would share last years Spring decor from my house. This originally posted on my family blog (before I had this one) on 3/18/09.
Rhoda was having a Spring Fluffing party. I don't think she had one this year.
**************************************************
This Friday is the first official day of Spring, but Spring has already sprung in my household. Well at least in my family room. And since Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is having a Spring Fluffing party, I had to join in. You know how I love a good party. So lets take a look around my room to see what we can find.
First off is my china hutch. Since I don't have a formal dining room, it is in my family room. My kitchen and family room are really one big room so I keep the hutch in here. As you can tell, I collect pitchers and creamers. I usually have my red/pink transferware plates on my hutch, but since it is spring, I put out my cabbage plates. I just got them at Ross. I love them!! And I know that I have too many "faux" flowers, but I love pink roses and I don't care. Oh and the green hydrangeas are fabulous too. So there!!!!
What says spring better than a birdie and a nest? Nothing!!!
I love pink & green together. So springy!
Doesn't everyone out in blogland have these cute birdie salt & pepper shakers from Target?
A little bit of spring on my trunk. This is hard to decorate on as the top is warped and nothing lies flat or even. I need to get a piece of glass cut to lay on top. I'm hoping that will make the surface a little more even for decorating. But until then, I work with what I have.
I filled up one jar with faux eggs from Ross, one with river stones from The Dollar Tree and finally a jar filled with faux greenery I had around.
This cloche is just a cheese dome I got at a thrift store for 50 cents. The bowl underneath, I can't remember where that came from. The plate I just got at Goodwill for 99 cents. The rocks are from The Dollar Tree. The bird nest is from my wedding 3 years ago that I made. The bird came from Walmart & the eggs were some clearance left overs from Easter a few years back that I painted.
Here is my mantel. My hubby got me the heart shaped ivy topiary for Valentine's Day. The planter it is in came from Ross. The bird came from ABC Distributing last year. The bunny is from Ross and the ball/fleur de lis topiary came from Ross as well. I got it on clearance for $3.00.
I'm totally into green for Spring.
I love this bunny. I'll put him in the yard after Spring/Easter.
This is the top of my TV armoire. The birdhouses are from my wedding. The Christ tile was a Christmas gift from my sister a year ago. It fits in no matter what the season. I just got the "faux" flowers from Michael's. Got to have more green.
And finally the top of my little cabinet. This is technically in my kitchen area, but since both are part of one room, I considered it part of my family room for this post. I filled the apothecary jar with faux eggs. The bird/terrarium cloche came from the Goodwill a few weeks back. I put another of my wedding bird nests under it. Can you have too many bird nests? I didn't think so.
I will be changing some of my Spring decor for Easter decor this weekend. I've already started in my kitchen & you can see those pictures here in my "What's on Your Wall Wednesday" post.
Thanks for taking a look at my Spring Fluffing and don't forgot to see all the other Spring Fluffing going on in blogland at Southern Hospitality. If you haven't already started your Spring Fluffing, it might just get you in the mood.

I hope that you enjoyed taking a look back at last years spring decor. This year I left out the pink and the flowers. If you missed this years, you can find it here and here. I never did decorate my mantel for spring this year. I decorated it for St Paddy's day instead.
This weekend my plans were to decorate for Easter, but I have another project that I'm doing instead. I'll give you a little hint. It is a project I've procrastinated for years. And I talked about the possibility of doing it in one of my posts this week.
I'll share more in a day or two. Until then, you will just have to wait.
Now hop on over to Chari's blog at Happy to Design to see this weeks participants in Sunday Favorites.

Spring has sprung
Spring is almost here. It's less than 1 day away. Can you believe it?
A few weeks back I decided to decorate for St Paddy's Day. But I didn't have enough St Paddy stuff to decorate everything. So I thought I would also decorate for spring. And since most everything I have for spring is green or white, it would work for both spring & St Paddy's day.
I shared all my St Paddy's stuff earlier. And yesterday I shared most of my spring decor. Today I am sharing my spring china hutch. And nope, I still have not painted it. I'm toying with the idea this weekend. Depends on what excuse I can come up with not to do it.
I used my green cabbage plates that I got last year from Ross. I got all of them on clearance. Last year I could only find 3 dinner plates. I managed to find a 4th a few months back. I think I had to pay full price, but it was worth it to have a set of 4.
In this cloche I put one of my artichoke statues. I have two. I got both of them last year at Marshall's.
I've been having fun with this photo display. I printed out some vintage letters to spell Spring. I added some bird prints and rose prints that I like. As I've told you before, I have a few CD's with vintage images on them. The hardest part is going through all the images to chose the ones I want.
The bird nest is one I made from spanish moss for my wedding. The birdy came from Walmart about 4 years ago. I think he was a buck.
The only things I purchased new this year are the two birdy finials and the green birdies. They all came from Michael's, 50% off. Did I tell you that we finally have a Michael's were I live? Woo hoo!!! Now I don't have to drive 20 minutes to get to one. I only have to drive less than 5. I am so happy. I only wish we had Hobby Lobby in southern California.
The bird house is actually a Christmas ornament that I picked up at least 10 years ago.
The pair of little birdies are Christmas ornaments from Target. Got them on clearance, after Christmas. The brown orb, I got around Christmas. Can't remember from where, just remember that the set of them were a deal. The little moss orbs came from Michael's just last week. I think they were $5.00 for a set of 6. That was regular price. Too bad I didn't have a 40% off coupon. I don't normally buy stuff at Michael's at regular price, but I wanted them, bad.
I collect white pitchers, so I always have an abundance of them for displaying. Here you can see one of the green birds and one of the bird finials that I got at Michael's. The birdhouse under the cloche is actually a Christmas ornament as well. I've had it for about 10 years. The silver bird is also a Christmas ornament that came from the thrift store for 25 cents. I made the cloche out of a glass dome from the thrift store. I just glued on a glass knob.
This birdhouse, you guessed it, it's another Christmas ornament.
Here is what sits on the base.
Left side.
Thrift store cheese dome covers a bird nest with birdy & eggs that I got from Michael's a few years back. I have it sitting on a bed of shredded french music. Since I don't own any actual music, I printed out my own from one of my CD's with vintage images. I enlarged the image to full page & printed onto a regular piece of paper. I printed it out on both sides of the paper. Then I put the paper through my paper shredder. I have an old one that only shreds in lines. It's not a cross shredder or this would never work. Then I wrapped each piece around a pencil for it to curl. Makes a nice nest for the nest.
My apothecary jars came from Big Lots about 3-4 years ago. I filled this one with some more moss balls that I just got from Michael's. I may have to get me some more. I just need a coupon.
These green glass marble thingies came from Michael's a few years back.
These eggs I got at Ross last year. I was too lazy to paint my own.
And here is the right side.
I printed out this image from one of my vintage image CD's. I'm using one of my flower frogs to hold it. I camouflaged the frog with some Dollar Tree moss. I placed it under a small cloche & have it sitting on my newest old ironstone saucer from the thrift store. It was 25 cents. I love to collect ironstone. This is by Johnson Brothers. I also picked up 2 salad plates & 1 dinner plate at the same time. They match some I picked up last year. Eventually I will have a complete set, at least that is what I am hoping for.
On the cake pedestal that I made, I added a spring garland from Michael's (a few years ago). Threw on some moss rocks (from Marshall's last year). Added another Walmart birdy and some glittered pencil starfish I won in a blog giveaway.
Another cheese dome. This one I filled with number balls & moss rocks.
And there you have my spring hutch. I will probably change it out this weekend for Easter stuff. Unless I decide to paint it. Then Easter will just have to wait a few more days. Anyone want to come over & help me paint?
I hope that all of you enjoy your weekend & the first day of spring. What are your plans?
