Is it too early to decorate for Halloween?

I just love, love, love Halloween. Almost as much as Christmas. But not quite.

I'm itching to start decorating for Halloween. Especially after visiting Tai Pan Trading store last weekend.

Thought I'd share some of the Halloween goodies that I saw there. I'm not literally going to share. Wish I could. I'll just be sharing photos.

But, if you don't have a Tai Pan Trading where you live and you want me to be your personal shopper at my Tai Pan, I'd be more than happy. Wow, that is a long sentence. I just can't spend my money. But I would be delighted to spend yours.

Just kidding. No I'm not. Yes, I am. No I'm not. Any takers?

First off, I saw these black feather pumpkins. I want one. But I passed. I had other things I wanted more. I think this would be an easy thing to knock off.

I'm totally into black & white Halloween this year. And I loved this sign.

And these jars. Love them!!!! Love how the pumpkin on top looks like Jack Skellington from Nightmare before Christmas. The smaller jars where like $7.00 and the taller ones $10.00. I really don't need anymore jars. But if they had sold just the pumpkins, I would have scooped some up.

I loved this huge spider web. Mostly I loved that they had some sparkly ribbon mixed in. It was like $24.00. I did buy a smaller rope web for $5.00. I may try & find some sparkly ribbon to add to it. I already have a huge sparkly spider that I got from Dollar Tree last year.

I loved these bat finials. The bats were stuffed felt. They were like $8.00 each. I'm thinking of trying to make a knock off version.

I loved these ghosts, but they were more than I was willing to pay. I'm cheap.

I'm going to knock off this sign as well. I think it will be pretty easy.

I pretty much loved everything they had on display that was black & white. I am so going to do my family room in black & white for Halloween this year.

More signs I liked. But my house already has a ton of spider webs year round. Why would I want to add more? But I do.

Besides spider webs, I'm digging skeletons as well.

I really liked this torn up cloth as a curtain or divider. I saw in a magazine where you can also make this out of black trash bags. I'm going to give that a try for my front porch area.

When you first walked into the store they had a bunch of skeleton pirates hanging from a chandelier. Hopefully none of them was Captain Jack Sparrow. I would be so sad. And don't you love the broken mirror? I wonder who was willing to risk 7 years of bad luck to make it.

Aren't these polk a dot pumpkins so cute? They would be an easy knock off as well. And I love the boxes.

This display makes a great Halloween statement. I would love to have that many sitting on my front porch.

Need some dishes for your Halloween table? This is the place to find some.

More dishes.
I loved how they hung ribbons from the tree along with some Halloween paper lanterns.

And I loved this orange mesh ribbon. It really makes a statement. I purchased a roll of it for $6.00. I think the roll is about 12" wide & about 30 feet long. Not sure where I'll use it, but I thought it was cool.

After spending a few hours in Tai Pan Trading & making a few purchases, I am so ready to decorate for Halloween.

I'll try & take photos this weekend of everything I bought and share with you next week.

I may try & do some fall decorating this weekend as well. Since I do think it might be a bit too early to decorate for Halloween. But who knows.

We've already watched Dracula at my house so I am in the mood for Halloween.

What do you think? Is it too early to decorate for Halloween?

  1. Hi Kim,
Let's just say I've been decorating for the last month for fall(open house tomorrow). It's been driving me nuts trying to find things to use. One place said they would get their halloween stuff in the day after my open house-not helping me people!

I say "Go for it". Then take loads of pictures! I've never even heard of Tai Pai store-looks like it would be fun to shop at!

    Thanks for sharing,
    Jody

  3. I started decorating for Halloween last month Kim. October is my month to host BUNCO so I couldn't wait 'til the last moment. :-)

I love Halloween stuff. Especially the stuff that looks vintage. Those little ghost were adorable.

I have already changed out my hutch and I have been working on Spell books and bottles of potions for my witches desk (my sofa table.) I'll take pics and share when I am done.

We don't have a Tai Pai store here. I have to drive over 40 miles to get to a Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Maybe I'll see if they have an internet store. Thanks for sharing!~Ames

  4. Hi Kim,
Loved seeing all of the Halloween decor. I loved the felt black bats on the blocks too. You know those unpainted wood candle cups (people use them a lot when making decorative tassels)...anyway I was thinking you could turn one of those over and glue it to a block. There's a hole in the bottom of the candle cup and you could slide a dowel rod into the hole. Paint the entire piece white and add some rub on letters and then attach the bat to the top of the dowel rod. I hope you don't mind if I give it a try....your picture really inspired me!

  6. Nope... It's not too early for me. I started today, lol. It's still hot as heck down here in Florida but tomorrow night when I'm completely done decorating, I'm going to turn off the lights, light some scented candles and jack up the air conditioner. Instant Fall :)

  10. It is such a good thing that I haven't ran across one of those stores on the East Coast. My wallet couldn't survive that AND Home Goods. I've been waiting on you to decorate for Halloween. I could use some inspiration! :) Also read in a mag that you can use cheesecloth for ghosts (reminded me of that trashbag thing)...haven't tried it, just sayin'.

  11. Its not to early! I've started decorating. Halloween, to me is just a fun time. I have mixed feelings of saying goodbye to summer, because i know those horridly cold days are ahead.

  14. Hi Kim,
I remember when you took us on a tour of this store last year! They had so many things to drool over!!
Boy, I've just barely gotten into Fall decorating! It's doubtful that I'll do much for Halloween! Not as much as it used to be for some reason...

    Have a nice day Kim!

  15. This is my first time to your blog and I love it! great stuff you put up. I think Tai Pan is my favorite store in the world, but I haven't been in since they put out the halloween stuff. I will be making a trip tomorrow!!! Thanks for sharing all the cute things, and I'm going to be making a knock-off of the cute bat finials.

I'm trying to wait until Oct. 1st for the Halloween decorating, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it!

  16. Okay, I do not have this store near me (I don't think) and after seeing this post I am quite depressed about it.

This year my theme is all spiders. I LOVED that spider sign, (happy halloween, and along came a spider) -- any idea how much it is? I hope not too much *crosses fingers*... I'm on a budget, LOL

  17. Hi Kim,
I loved that tour! We don't have one here in NY! But we have Cmas Tree shops that are fun.
I think you could make all of those things you mentioned.
Can't wait to see your table!
