Thrifty Thursday-Christmas stuff

I know, I know, you are done with Christmas. But I'm not. As you know from my previous post, my Christmas stuff is still up. I'm hoping to have it down this weekend. Unless I can come up with some other excuse. I'm a free caring girl. I don't stick to schedules or live up to others expectations. I only do things when I feel like it (translation: I'm basically lazy and a procrastinator). Am I good at making excuses or what?

Since I never showed you all the cool stuff I got before Christmas, I thought I'd share it with you today for Thrifty Thursday. Be sure to visit Leigh over at Tales from Bloggeritaville to see all of this weeks participants.

Back in December we went to see the Christmas lights at the Mission Inn in downtown Riverside. That was my first time there. Lucky for me, right across the street is a fabulous antique mall called Mission Galleria. I didn't have much time to look around the night we were there. But I did spy the following vintage Bride & Groom cake topper under a cloche. It was love at first sight.

I talked my self out of getting it. It really wasn't that expensive, but I was on a "no spending money" kick that night. Lucky for me my hubby took me back to this antique store a week or so later. And lucky for me that it was still there. And my luck was even better as the 2nd time we were there, everything in this booth was 40% off. 40% off!!!! I did the happy dance. Hubby bought it for me for Christmas.
It ended up costing less than $10.00. I started collecting bride & grooms when we got married a few years ago. I really didn't need this, I just wanted it. Had to have it. And now I do.

This particular seller had lots of stuff in her booth that I ended up getting. At 40% off, I found lots of treasures to bring home that day.
I also have a small collection of vintage silver baby cups. I didn't have any spoons to go with them. That is, until now.

I got this silver baby spoon for $3.60.

I got two of these vintage Christmas trees. They were like $2.40 each.

And since I'm into cloches, how could I pass up this sweet one for around $3.00?
I don't think it is really vintage, just made to look that way.

Then I found 2 different tin ornaments for less than $1.00 each. I'm sure they are new, but they still look vintage. This gingerbread man has lost his candy cane dangle, but that is OK.
This little gingerbread girl still has her candy cane dangle.

I also found this set of vintage candy cane sticks for less than $2.00. They were in another both that was only 10% off. I stuck them in this over sized mug that I got a few years back from Joann Fabric.

That is everything that I got at a thrifty price from the antique mall. I seem to find lots of thrifty finds at antique stores.

These next items came from my local community thrift store. A couple of Saturdays before Christmas they had all their Christmas items at 50% off. This thrift store rarely marks their stuff down, so I was thrilled with 50% off sale.

I got this cute music box for $2.50. I collect music boxes. But then, what don't I collect.

This vintage wreath was 50 cents.

This brass snowflake candle holder was 25 cents. I was going to paint it white & cover it with glitter before Christmas, but never got it done. Hopefully by next Christmas.

And finally I got this silver metal bird ornament for 25 cents.

I was thrilled with all my thrifty finds in December. I also picked up a set of Moss Rose china in December, but forgot to take a photo. Maybe I'll share those next week.

I hope that you liked my thrifty finds. My favorite thing is the vintage bride & groom in the cloche that hubby got me for Christmas. What is your favorite thing?

  1. My tree is still up! I haven't had the time, energy or inclination to remove it. (it's an artificial white tree) One year I threw a lot of pink and hearts on there and celebrated through Valentines. I know, I am a sad, busy little creature.

I can just see that tree for more than Christmas...I think it would make a great Easter tree, don't you. Thanks for sharing all of your thrifty finds. We can never have enough good deals!

  3. Kim,

Ohhh my...just taking a little break from the great Christmas decor break down! Hehe! I'm about to get it finished though! Eeeks...I always hate it everything looks so naked!!! I'm trying to think of some new stuff to use out in the house...that's always fun! Hehe! Well Girlfriend, I hope that my note finds you well...have a great day!!!

    Love ya,

  6. Great finds! I especially love the baby spoon. I would lose my mind if I ever found a 40% off sale at any antique shop - NEVER happens around here, darn it! I was lucky enough, however, to score a brand new Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic stocking (soft pink chenille & old roses cotton patchwork) at a fleamarket a couple of weeks before Christmas. Her seasonal items were already reduced, but then there was another 50% off that made my find only $2.50! It looked great in my kitchen with all my antique rose-covered china. Can't wait to see your Moss Rose set!

  7. Kim, no wonder you still have your Christmas decor up - you have such wonderful Christmas finds - I wouldn't want to put those up either. But I do love your explanation about being a free spirit (you are so cute). You sure got some fabulous bargains! laurie

  8. What wonderful thrifty holiday items...I never take anything down until after Jan 6. and I take my time, 'cause I still enjoy looking around at all the decorations!

  9. I like your baby spoon the best. That tarnish look speaks to me every time!
    Living it up at Lakewood,

  10. Cool stuff! I wish I'd find one of those vintage trees!
