Knock off Knock Out-My Ballard Knock off

Cheri over at Its So Very Cheri is hosting her very first KNOCK OFF KNOCK OUT party. And what is a knock off knock out? This is how Cheri explains it: So, have you ever looked at something and said I can make that or re-create it into something similar but where it fits the style of your home, or you ate something at a restaurant and re-created the recipe, because it tasted so good, well that is a KNOCK OFF. Maybe you found the perfect look for your living room, in your favorite magazine but it was so expensive there was no way you could afford it so you re-created it and it looked amazing, well that is a KNOCK OUT. What qualifies for the KNOCK OFF KNOCK OUT party? ANYTHING...it can be an outfit, or furniture, a painting or a frame, it can be an entire room or a pillow. It can be something you saw online that another blogger did a project and showed you the steps, or you could have viewed it online or TV, or saw something you loved at your girlfriends you want to re-create it.

I decided that I wanted to participate in Cheri's new blog party. My contribution this week is really something quite small. But it is still a Knock off Knock out. I originally posted this back in April on my family blog Manning Family Tree for Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. But I thought it would be perfect for Cheri's new blog party, so I am sharing it again here on my new blog.

I had been wanting a new fruit basket. And one day I was at Ross & found this metal tiered basket that would be perfect for holding my fruit. Except for one thing. I hated the color. But that was OK, as we all know that a little spray paint can fix almost anything.

Here is the before photo of the tiered basket at Ross. Cost $9.99

And here is the after with a few coats of Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. Looks fabulous!!! I was very happy.

The same day that I painted my basket, I got my first Ballard Designs catalog in the mail. I had heard so many of you rave about all the neat decorating ideas you get from this catalog so I signed up to get one myself to see what all the fuss was about.

Well my new catalog arrived & I started thumbing through it when all of I sudden I came upon this:
Looks almost exactly like the tiered basket I just got from Ross & spray painted. Except for this one has 4 legs & mine only has 3. But the real difference was the price.

The Ballard tiered basket: $44.00
My knockoff version: $ 9.99 (I already had the spray paint)

Savings: $34.01

I did the "Happy Dance". Don't you just love when you can get a designer look for less? I know I do. So now I love my tiered fruit basket even more. And to think that I got a knock off knock out without really even trying. It just happened by accident.
Thanks for visiting & be sure to visit all the other participants at Its So Very Cheri.
