Thrifty finds while on vacation

I just got back from a week of vacation in Cave Creek Arizona. While on vacation I got to do my favorite thing. Shopping!!!! The Phoenix area has quite a lot of great thrift stores, antique stores & bargain shopping. I found quite a few deals in Arizona. I only wish I had more room in my car to bring back more goodies.

Oh well, maybe next time. I did still find quite a bit to bring home this trip. We will start off with my Goodwill finds. I spent one whole day traveling to various Goodwill stores in the Phoenix area. I had printed off a list of Phoenix thrift stores from the Internet. I never even made it to the Savers thrift stores.

I found this white ceramic pumpkin. It will look great in my fall decor. This was a 1/2 price item so I paid $1.50. It is about 5 1/2" in diameter & about 6" tall. Sorry that my pics aren't the greatest. Too much glare from the sun going down. But I was excited to share my loot with you all.

I did the happy dance when I found this pink crystal perfume bottle for $1.99. I collect perfume bottles.
This small votive candle holder was 50 cents. It was 1/2 price too. It will look good in a tablescape.
I scored on napkin rings at one Goodwill. I got these six ceramic turkey napkin rings plus the 4 metal snowflake napkin rings coming up for $4.99. That's 10 napkin rings for $5 bucks.
Here's a closeup of the turkey. These will look great on my Thanksgiving table. Hubby thought these were ugly. Men!!! What do they know?
Here are the 4 metal snowflake napkin rings that came with the turkey ones. I might paint these white & then sprinkle with glitter. Not sure yet.
Then I found 8 silver napkin rings by Rogers for $3.99. One of them is pretty tarnished. I kind of hope the rest of them tarnish that dark as well. I like the tarnished look.
That is the end of my thrift store finds. The next day I hit up an antique store in Phoenix called Historic District Antique Mall. I found the next 2 items there. I have been wanting a bust for the longest time & I found this cute little boy bust for $4.00 at this antique mall. I actually got it for $3.20 as everything in this one booth was 20% off. It has a chip on the back corner but I don't care, he's beautiful to me. Bust is 10" tall.
Then in the same booth I found this red transferware pitcher by Alfred Meakin. It was marked $16.00 but with 20% off I got it for $12.80. Woo hoo!! I collect blue & red/pink transferware. And I collect pitchers as well.
Pitcher is 7" tall.
The bottom of the pitcher.
Then we went to another antique mall in Phoenix. This one was called the Brass Armadillo. This was a huge antique mall. It took us a few hours to walk through it. I found 3 items in this antique mall.

This brass napkin holder will be painted white, distressed & used on my desk at work to hold files & envelopes. I paid $5.00.

I've been wanting some vintage jello molds. I found this stack of 6 for $4.00. Not sure if that is a good find or not. But I thought it was. Not sure what I will do with them. I just wanted them. (I do that a lot.)
Then I found this set of 4 shells. These are real shells. I paid $2.50 for the four. They are the right size for using in a tablescape.
The back side.
And finally I found this great shop called Paris Envy. It was in what is called the "Melrose District" of Phoenix. I loved this shop. They had new and vintage "Frenchy" stuff. I found this vintage French Limonade bottle for $5.00. Vintage bottles are really hot right now and I have been collecting a few. I really loved this as it was French.
Here is a closeup of the writing. I should have bought more than one bottle.
And I also found some deals at the local grocery store: Fry's. Look at this barn star that I found for $2.00. They had some patriotic ones, but I liked this white star as it is more versatile.
In California Fry's is an electronic store, but in Arizona it is a grocery store. I also found these Campbell soup plates on the clearance table for $2.00 a piece. These will be great to use with my vintage Campbell soup mugs that I already have. Can't wait for cooler weather and for tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
And finally I found these summer melamine plates for $1.00 a piece on the clearance table at Fry's. We are going to use them tonight with our burgers and eat out by the pool.
So there you have my thrifty finds from my vacation in Arizona. If you want to see some more thrifty finds, be sure to visit Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for this weeks participants.

I was born and raised in Arizona and my Aunts were all Thriftaholics and we spent lots of times in different thrift and antiques stores in Phoenix, so I know what a blast you must have had!
