Cloche Party Fall Edition

I was so excited when I found out that Marty over at A Stroll Thru Life was having a fall cloche party. I loved the first party she had back in June. I love decorating my cloches & apothecary jars. I had all kinds of plans when I heard that Marty was having a fall version of the party.

But alas, you know me & plans. They don't seem to go together the way I dream them. It's been so hot here in southern California (I know, excuses, excuses) that I didn't want to climb up into my hot attic to get down my fall decor boxes. I'll bet it's 150 degrees up in that attic. Would you go? If you answered yes, I need to you come right now to my house & get my boxes down for me. Thank you very much.

Anyhoo, I did decorate a few for fall with items I had around the house that didn't require me entering Hades. And a few, well, they could work for almost any time of the year.

I'll start off cheating a little bit. These first 2 photos I cropped from photos I took of my fall decor on my hutch from last year. These items are up in that blazing hot attic, so they haven't seen the light of day this year yet. But they will. Hopefully in time for Thanksgiving.

A friend of mine made these 2 white fabric pumpkins for me a couple of years ago. I just love them. I keep saying I'm going to try making them myself, but so far, I've managed to put it off another year. The smaller one fits perfectly under my smaller cloche.

This one was easy peasy!!! Just put 3 small ceramic pumpkins under a cheese dome. Now don't fall all over yourself trying to rush out to get your pumpkins to copy me. lol. And don't you love the white pumpkin soup bowl? I know we are suppose to be talking about cloches, but I had to bring up the soup bowl because I love it. I got a pumpkin soup tureen & six pumpkin soup bowls last fall from Crate & Barrel on clearance. On clearance!!!! I was one happy camper.

Now we will move on to my current decor. Since Marty said we could include apothecary jars (I hope she said it was OK this time. I know last time it was, so I'm assuming it is again this time), this is my biggest apothecary jar.

I filled this apothecary jar with balls with letters on them that I picked up from Coldwater Creek Outlet. I had seen Kimba (I think it was Kimba, but it could have been Nester) talk about them a few months back. She had tried making some with ping pong balls & rub on letters. Then someone had mentioned that Coldwater Creek had the balls already made up & they were on clearance online. Well, I almost bought them then, but I waited, and by the time I convinced myself that I could afford them, they were out of them. Boo hoo!!! So then I convinced myself I didn't need them after all. But I really wanted them & I was mad I had waited too long.

Well lucky me, when we were coming home from vacation a few weeks back my stepson wanted to stop at the outlet mall in Cabazon to get some shoes. And what store was right next door to the Van shoe store? You guessed it, a Coldwater Creek outlet store. I thought they surely won't have the letter and/or number balls there. But I would be wrong. Not only did they have them. They were on clearance for the same price as they had been online a few months back, but they were having an additional 20% off clearance items sale as well. Woo hoo!!! And the icing on the cupcake is that I didn't have to pay shipping either. So I scored!!!! It's not very often that being a procrastinator pays off. But it did this time. I bought both the letters & the numbers.

These apothecary jars are on my fireplace mantel. I put the number balls in the largest one. The middle one is filled with fall color crystals that I picked up from The Dollar Tree. And the smallest one has faux pumpkins & gourds, also from Dollar Tree.

This cloche is on my hutch. I have old bottles in this cloche. I had it this way for summer but it still works for fall as well. I just put out some fall looking plates & a star behind it. I'll probably change it out when ever I get my fall decor out. But it works as is for now.

This cloche sits on top of my lazy susan in my kitchen. I put some of my crystal salt & pepper shakers under it. I had seen this on someones blog (sorry I don't remember who it was, if it was you, leave me a note in comments & I'll give you credit) when Marty had the last cloche party. I thought it was a fabulous idea so I had to copy. Plus it makes it easy to find salt & pepper when you need it. Since a lot of cooking gets done this time of year. It works for fall decor as well. Am I stretching it?

This little cloche sits on top of an old scale in my kitchen. Since it is the harvest time of year, we think of farms. Cows are on farms, milk comes from cows. Perfect fall decor.

And here is my newest little cloche. I picked it up at the local thrift store just last week.
It was the perfect size to go over the little cup I picked up at the thrift store a few weeks back. I know it's not fall decor. But isn't it cute?

And finally since today is 9/11 I put together this little patriotic cloche in remembrance. Actually it was a cloche I decorated for the 4th of July. But I felt it still works for today for 9/11.
I hope you have enjoyed my cloches. I didn't even touch the ones in my living room. Maybe Marty will have another one for Christmas & maybe, just maybe, I'll get my act together & decorate all my cloches by then.

  5. Kim, You did GREAT!!! I love the little balls w/the letters and numbers. I never saw anything like this size before. I have larger ones with letters that I got from JCP, but I like your smaller ones better. Your cloches are just adorable. The s&p shakers, the milk bottles, and that special shaped new one from the thrift store- all just perfect. I have been a bad bloggy friend, I have over 700 posts to read in Reader- oh I have been busy with other things. Hope you'll be by to see my cloches. Hugs, Sue

  17. Kim, how lucky you were to find those great number and letter balls at such a deal! They look great in the cloches. Your little "Farm Fresh" cloche is soooo cute, and I love it on that wonderful old scale. What a pretty tea cup (you know I'm a succer for blue and white). The s/p shakers look so special and pretty under a cloche. You had some very unique ideas for the party. laurie

  19. You did a great job, Kim! Who said you had to have fall decoration under your cloche?? Maybe I am anti fall right now because I am enjoying summer so much, but it actually never occured to me to use fall items. In any event, I love your cloches. I love your home!! The glass under the dome is really cool and I adore the pumpkin bowl.

You did a greatr job, my friend!!

  26. Welll...you can cheat all you want and I would have too except I got smart and sent Sweetie Pie up into the heat for mine! :) He grumbled but he went. I opened the lid on the first container and it smelled heavenly! Yep...all my candles had melted! What a mess..but they sure smelled wonderful!
I loved the salt and pepper shakers under glass...wow..those are some OLD ones! Just beautiful!

One of my cloches was broken...the back half got bumped and there is a three or four inch hunk out of it.. LOL..no one saw it...you are the only one that knows! Don't tell..ok? :) I thought you did a wonderful job...now I am anxious to see what you do for Christmas!! :)
Hugs for visiting me and for such a sweet comment!! :)

  28. Great arrangements Kim. Your salt and pepper shakers are beautiful, cloche or no coche

I've been known to buy or make new seasonal decorations rather than make the trip up to the attic! Springtime is the only time I like to go up! Wish we could access it from inside!

  29. Love those cloches! There are so many clever ones that I don't even know where to start! But I do know this - Debbie @Confessions of a Plate Addict actually took a photo of the s & p shakers under the cloche. We saw it at Queen of Hearts here in Atlanta (the same place I saw my shredded music in a jar - which I copied!) We oohed and ahhed over the one we saw, and then you have created it yourself - gorgeous! Linda @Nina's Nest

  32. Beautiful! I like the cloche with the bottles and the one with the salt and pepper shakers! That was great that you were able to get those little balls at an even bigger discount! TJ Maxx had some on clearance and I thought about getting them and passed them up. Then decided to go back a few days latter to get them and they were gone. If you snooze you lose in that store!!
