For Saturday Nite Special Donna has 3 different categories you can post in all weekend long.
1) Home Decor
2) Crafts, Sewing, Cooking
3) Weekly theme.
This week's theme is "Old Windows". So I thought I would show you what I did with an old window that my brother in law picked up for me when he was at the dump.
I wish I had a before photo. But I did this prior to blogging. Basically the old window looked exactly like it does now. All I had to do was clean it. It was already painted white & all the glass was intact.
Once I got the window I then had to decide what to do with it. I had no idea. Then one day I was roaming through the mall & saw a black & white poster of Paris from the early 1900's. I fell in love with the poster immediately. But it was $40.00. What? Who in their right mind pays $40.00 for a poster? Someone must or those kind of stores wouldn't still be in the mall. But I wasn't going to pay that much for it. But I knew it would look perfect behind my old window.
What's a cheap skate girl to do? eBay to the rescue!!! I found the same poster on eBay for less than 1/2 the price. Still more than I wanted to pay, but I had to have it. So I got it.
I had to cut it down a little bit to fit the inside of the old window. I then bought a piece of foam core & cut it to the same size. I then used spray glue to adhere the poster to the foam core & stuck it inside the window. It fit perfect.
So now every morning I get to wake up to vintage Paris.
Not a bad view if I say so myself.
Makes me smile every time I pass by.
Reminds me of our trip to Paris in 2003. I need to go back someday. But until then, this view is the next best thing.
I hope you liked my view of Paris in my old window. Sorry about the glare in most of the photos. There is a window right across the room that is being reflected in the photos. The first photo is actually when I had the window on a different wall so there isn't much glare in that one.
Now head on over to Funky Junk Interiors to see what everyone is sharing this week.

I love the Paris window! My husband surprised me with a trip to Paris for our 20th Anniversary, and it still looks similar to that from the top of some of the monuments we went to. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! Sigh, if only I could have a window that would overlook Paris from that exact angle... how amazing life would be... but this is definitely the next best thing! :)
ReplyDeleteSo creative!
